For the fourth consecutive time, Algeria has secured the top spot in the ARSIF rankings for scientific journals, focusing on research impact and citations, in the year 2023.

In a statement released by the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, it was reported that Algeria has once again claimed the top spot in the Arab world. Out of a total of 1,155 Arab scientific journals meeting the required criteria, Algeria’s journals achieved significant success, with 445 of them making the grade.

The statement highlighted the substantial progress made by Algeria compared to the previous year when 370 journals succeeded. Algerian journals, in the 2023 ranking, have also excelled in specific disciplines within the Arab world. Notably, one journal published by the University of Ouargla secured the first position in the field of Arts and Humanities, with two other Algerian journals ranking seventh and tenth in the same discipline, out of a total of 251 journals in that category.

In the realm of sports science, a journal affiliated with the University of Oum El Bouaghi claimed the top position, while another Algerian journal secured the third position out of a total of 38 journals assessed in this field.

Furthermore, in the field of political science, a journal affiliated with the Arab Center for Research and Studies achieved the first position among 68 classified journals in the same domain.

It’s worth noting that ARSIF, which was established by the “Maarifa” Foundation in 2013, is designed to measure the impact of scientific journals published in the Arabic language. It relies on 32 criteria that align with international standards similar to global impact factors. These criteria encompass aspects related to publication, editorial content, as well as regional and international diversity.

In summary, Algeria’s consistent performance in ARSIF rankings underscores its dedication to advancing research and scientific contributions in the Arab world. This achievement reflects the nation’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and innovation across various disciplines.
