Algiers, Algeria – The National Meteorological Office has issued a special weather advisory, warning of significant rainfall across numerous northern provinces starting tonight. A new wave of atmospheric disturbances is expected to bring thunderstorms and heavy downpours, with the potential for hail in some areas.
The initial impact will be felt in the western provinces, including Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Mascara, Relizane, northern Tiaret, and Tissemsilt. Rainfall amounts are forecast to range between 20 and 40 millimeters, with the possibility of exceeding 50 millimeters in coastal regions. This first wave of inclement weather is predicted to begin at 11:00 PM tonight and continue until 11:00 PM tomorrow.
A second wave of disturbances is anticipated to affect provinces further east. Ain Defla, Tipaza, Algiers, Blida, Medea, Boumerdes, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, northern Setif, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf are all under the advisory. Similar rainfall amounts are expected, between 20 and 40 millimeters, but coastal areas in eastern Algeria could see totals exceeding 50 millimeters. This second phase of the storm is predicted to commence at 12:00 PM tomorrow and last until 6:00 AM on Thursday.
