Government Reviews E-Commerce Strategy, Satellite Communication Plans

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib chaired a government meeting this Wednesday dedicated to reviewing proposals concerning several key sectors. The meeting focused on the national strategy for developing e-commerce, electronic communication services via satellite, and updates on major infrastructure projects.

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office, the government first examined a proposal regarding the national e-commerce development strategy. This strategy is part of the country’s digital transformation vision and aims to modernize the national trade ecosystem, establishing e-commerce as a fundamental pillar for economic competitiveness and financial inclusion.

The government also reviewed the advantages offered by electronic communication services via satellites in non-geostationary orbit. This communication system promises to reduce the digital bill, ensure access to high-speed internet in rural and isolated areas, and complement existing strategic infrastructure.

Furthermore, as part of the follow-up on major infrastructure projects, the government received updates on the progress of projects related to the railway development program, the construction of a sports complex in Constantine, the Boukhroufa dam project in El Tarf, and the Ighil Emda-Mehouane water transfer project in Bejaia and Setif.

The meeting underscores the government’s commitment to advancing digital transformation, improving connectivity, and ensuring the timely completion of crucial infrastructure projects across the country.
