Algeria Officially Launches 5G Mobile Network

Algiers, December 3, 2025 – Algeria has officially launched its 5G mobile network, marking a significant step towards digital transformation and the strengthening of national technological infrastructure. The announcement was made Wednesday evening by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.

The launch ceremony took place at the International Conference Center in Algiers, under the supervision of the Minister of the sector, Mr. Ali Zerouki. The event was attended by several government officials, as well as representatives from the three mobile operators: Mobilis, Djezzy, and Ooredoo. During the event, the operators presented practical models demonstrating how 5G can be utilized to develop digital services and the smart economy.

The initial launch of 5G technology allows for the deployment of the first 5G base stations, with a gradual rollout of services targeted towards citizens, organizations, and institutions. This process will be implemented according to a national rollout plan spanning six years, starting with priority provinces and eventually achieving comprehensive coverage across the country.

Industry experts emphasize that the transition to 5G represents a major technological leap. The technology offers higher internet speeds, significantly reduced latency, and the ability to support a large number of connected devices simultaneously. This advancement is expected to have a positive impact on vital sectors such as digital services, healthcare, education, industrial innovation, and smart cities. The launch of 5G positions Algeria as a key player in the region’s digital future.
