Air Algérie is undergoing a significant restructuring process aimed at transforming the national airline into a holding company, according to CEO Hamza Benhamouda. This strategic shift is expected to provide numerous legal, operational, and fiscal advantages for the company.
Benhamouda revealed that two new subsidiaries are slated to launch in January 2026: Air Algérie Ground Operation, dedicated to ground services, and an aviation academy focused on training. These specialized units will allow for greater efficiency and focus within their respective domains.
Furthermore, the ongoing transformation includes converting the maintenance division into an independent subsidiary. Air Algérie also plans to establish a new business line dedicated to organizing tourist flights. This diversification strategy is intended to promote specialization, distribute risks, and streamline operational processes.
The CEO emphasized that Air Algérie has accumulated extensive expertise in various aviation professions since its inception. The company boasts internationally recognized competencies, validated by certification bodies and professional organizations of which Air Algérie is a member.
Benhamouda added that the transition to a holding structure with specialized subsidiaries is designed to enhance performance, improve operations, and share costs and risks. This strategic realignment aims to solidify the national airline’s position in the competitive aviation sector. The move is seen as a critical step in ensuring Air Algérie’s long-term sustainability and growth.
