Doha, Qatar – Qatar has announced the launch of ‘Qai,’ a new company specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. The initiative aims to construct advanced digital systems that foster innovation and contribute to sustainable development, aligning with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed his enthusiasm for the launch, stating that it reflects the nation’s ambition to localize and leverage advanced technologies. He emphasized the development of digital solutions to support modernization and development, ultimately enhancing Qatar’s position as a key technology and innovation hub.
“We are pleased to launch the national AI company, Qai, which reflects the state’s ambition to localize and employ advanced technology and develop digital solutions that support the modernization and development process, in order to enhance the state’s position as an important center for technology and innovation. We count on this step to support the comprehensive development of our country,” the Prime Minister stated.
The establishment of Qai is part of a national drive to strengthen the knowledge-based economy and develop a digital infrastructure that keeps pace with rapid global transformations. This move supports the diversification of Qatar’s economy, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Qai is affiliated with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and benefits from the QIA’s extensive investments in various sectors worldwide, as well as its long-term investment approach. Furthermore, it will collaborate closely with scientific, research, and policy-making circles, and the innovation ecosystem within Qatar.
These foundations enable Qai to maximize the benefits of the national innovation system, accelerate the development and adoption of responsible and high-impact AI solutions, and solidify Qatar’s position as a competitive hub for AI and data-driven industries. Qai will be responsible for developing, managing, and investing in advanced AI systems and infrastructure domestically.
This initiative marks a significant step in Qatar’s commitment to technological advancement and economic diversification.
