Massive Drug Bust in Tlemcen: Nearly 30,000 Pills Seized

Tlemcen, Algeria – December 9, 2025 – Authorities in Tlemcen have seized a significant quantity of illicit drugs, thwarting a major smuggling operation. A combined effort by the Regional Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Regional Directorate of Customs in Tlemcen, the Sabdou Multipurpose Brigade, and the El Aricha Multipurpose Brigade resulted in the confiscation of 29,767 psychotropic pills.

The General Directorate of Customs confirmed the seizure, stating that the pills were identified as Pregabalin 300mg of foreign origin. The contraband was meticulously concealed within hidden compartments inside a black passenger vehicle.

DZWatch has learned that in addition to the seized narcotics, the vehicle used in the attempted smuggling operation was also impounded. Furthermore, two individuals were apprehended and are currently in custody, pending further legal proceedings before the competent judicial authorities.
