Algeria and Slovakia Forge New Path for Bilateral Cooperation

Algiers and Bratislava have outlined a new roadmap for bilateral cooperation following high-level talks in Slovakia. The discussions, held in Bratislava, focused on strengthening ties across several key sectors.

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, engaged in bilateral talks with his Slovak counterpart, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. The meeting, conducted during an official visit to Slovakia, served to evaluate the current state of Algerian-Slovakian relations and explore avenues for future growth.

Discussions centered on priority sectors including energy, renewable energy, the pharmaceutical industry, and water resources, as well as industry and agriculture. Both parties exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues, particularly developments impacting their respective regions and the need for coordinated responses to shared challenges.

The talks culminated in the signing of a joint declaration outlining priorities for bilateral cooperation and establishing a roadmap for enhanced collaboration. This roadmap aims to modernize the legal framework and complete the institutional structures governing relations between the two countries.

On the political front, both sides reiterated their support for international efforts to solidify the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and to work towards the realization of a Palestinian state within the framework of a two-state solution. They also affirmed their support for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
