Algiers – Preparations are underway for the official launch of the Gara Djebilet iron ore project, a cornerstone of Algeria’s economic development strategy. A high-level coordination meeting, chaired by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation, Said Saayoud, took place at the ministry headquarters to finalize arrangements for the project’s operational commencement.
The meeting brought together key figures from various sectors, including the Secretary-General, the Head of Cabinet, and senior officials from the transportation and aviation industries. The CEO of Air Algerie, the Director-General of Civil Aviation, representatives from Groupe Transinvest, Algiers International Airport, the National Rail Transport Company (SNTF), the General Directorate of Air Navigation, and specialized security services were also in attendance.
During the session, final touches were added to the planning of the official ceremony marking the launch of this strategic project. The Minister oversaw the establishment of a dedicated sub-committee focused on transportation and logistics. This committee will be responsible for monitoring on-the-ground preparations and ensuring comprehensive readiness in terms of organization, technology, and security.
The Minister emphasized several key directives, including ensuring the readiness of national airports, enhancing the bus fleet and improving service quality, optimizing flight schedules to align with the event, mobilizing all necessary human and material resources, providing robust security arrangements to ensure the success of the event, and diligently monitoring the sub-committee’s progress to meet established deadlines.
In closing, the Minister stressed that the successful execution of this launch event reflects the strategic importance of the Gara Djebilet project. He highlighted it as one of Algeria’s most significant economic endeavors, crucial for bolstering national development and supporting the economy. The project is expected to significantly contribute to Algeria’s industrial capacity and export potential.
