The Algerian-Tunisian partnership is built upon three fundamental pillars: political and security cooperation, economic collaboration, and strong human ties. This was emphasized by Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, during the inaugural meeting of the Algerian-Tunisian Follow-up Committee in Tunis.
The meeting, co-chaired by Minister Attaf and his Tunisian counterpart, Nabil Ammar, served as preparation for the 23rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian Joint High Commission for Bilateral Cooperation, scheduled for tomorrow. The High Commission will be jointly presided over by Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui and Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden Romdhane.
Minister Attaf stated that the Follow-up Committee represents a crucial opportunity to assess progress made in recent months and to chart the course for future endeavors. The ultimate goal is to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership, as envisioned by the leaders of both nations, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Kais Saied.
“This committee allows us to evaluate our work and plan ahead,” Attaf noted, highlighting the importance of continuous assessment and strategic planning in strengthening the Algeria-Tunisia bond.
On his part, Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, underscored the determination of both leaderships to enhance bilateral cooperation to more effective levels. This ambition is driven by a shared vision and coordinated approaches in various sectors, taking into account regional and international developments.
Minister Ammar also emphasized the fraternal and historical nature of the relationship between Algeria and Tunisia, reaffirming the mutual trust that has characterized relations between the two countries throughout their shared history.
“Our relationship is built on a solid foundation of trust and mutual respect,” Ammar stated, reflecting the strong bond between the two nations. The commitment from both sides signals a new era of strengthened cooperation and partnership.
