The Ministry of Health has announced the successful vaccination of approximately four million children against polio during the first phase of a nationwide campaign. A total of 3,823,066 children, aged between two months and five years, across all provinces of the country, received the polio vaccine between November 30th and December 6th, 2025.
In a statement released Thursday, the Ministry reported a coverage rate of 95%, a figure that aligns with the standards set by the World Health Organization. The Ministry emphasized the importance of continued vaccination efforts and urged parents to ensure their children within the targeted age group receive the vaccine during the upcoming phases of the campaign. The second phase is scheduled from December 21st to 27th, 2025, and the third phase is planned for January 25th to 31st, 2026.
All local health structures dedicated to vaccination remain fully mobilized to ensure optimal reception and vaccination conditions for children. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating polio and protecting the health of the nation’s children.
The Ministry also expressed its gratitude to various ministerial departments, international partners, healthcare professionals, and civil society organizations for their support and contribution to the success of this strategically important operation. This collaborative effort underscores the nation’s dedication to public health and the well-being of its youngest citizens.
