Trade between Algeria and Bahrain has surpassed $300 million, signaling a new phase of economic development and closer cooperation, according to Bahrain’s Ambassador to Algeria, Ali Al Jassim Ahmed Al Aradi.
Speaking at a celebration of Bahrain’s National Day in Algiers, Ambassador Al Aradi highlighted the rapidly evolving relations between the two nations. He emphasized the mutual desire to bolster investment partnerships and explore new avenues of collaboration, particularly in fintech, digital services, industry, and culture.
The ambassador stated that the upcoming period would focus on strengthening the strategic partnership and activating economic, cultural, and scientific cooperation. The Bahraini embassy aims to showcase the historical cooperation, present available investment and technological opportunities, and deepen political and economic consultations. Furthermore, it will encourage long-term cultural and academic partnerships.
Ambassador Al Aradi underscored the importance of implementing the recommendations of the joint economic committee and preparing for high-level parliamentary meetings scheduled for 2025, which will enhance institutional dialogue and ensure continued coordination between the two countries.
Specifically, the volume of trade between Algeria and Bahrain reached approximately $300.76 million in 2024. Priority sectors include fintech, digital banking solutions, industry, food security, logistics, ports, and maritime trade. Bahraini projects are under consideration in digital banking and fintech, and Bahraini business delegations are planning visits to Algeria to establish direct investment partnerships. Potential cooperation programs in industry and food security are also being explored, with a focus on creating a regulatory environment that facilitates investment and knowledge exchange.
The Ambassador affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to fostering friendship and cooperation with Algeria by supporting innovation in digital banking services and developing education and scientific research. He concluded that joint efforts would unlock new opportunities for growth and prosperity for both nations.
These developments signal a significant step forward in the economic and strategic relationship between Algeria and Bahrain, with both countries poised to benefit from increased trade and collaboration.
