Gara Djebilet Railway to be Operational by Year’s End

Tindouf, Algeria – Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djelloul, affirmed today in Tindouf that the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Bechar mining railway line will be fully operational before the end of December. This ambitious project, spanning 950 kilometers, is poised to significantly boost the nation’s mining capabilities.

Speaking during a site visit, Minister Djelloul emphasized the government’s commitment to completing the vital infrastructure project on schedule. He stated that the railway is now expected to be 100% complete before the New Year, paving the way for its utilization starting in January.

The Gara Djebilet railway is a crucial component of Algeria’s strategy to exploit the vast iron ore reserves in the Gara Djebilet region. The railway will facilitate the transportation of ore from the mines to processing facilities and ultimately to export markets. This undertaking will not only stimulate economic growth in the region but also contribute to the diversification of Algeria’s economy.

“This project is of paramount importance to our nation’s development,” Djelloul stated. “Its completion will unlock the potential of Gara Djebilet and create numerous opportunities for our citizens.”

The Minister further highlighted the significant progress made on the railway, despite challenges encountered during the construction phase. He praised the dedication and hard work of the engineers, workers, and other stakeholders involved in the project.

The Gara Djebilet railway is expected to have a transformative impact on the economy of Tindouf and the surrounding regions, creating jobs, attracting investment, and improving the overall quality of life for local communities. The railway is a testament to Algeria’s commitment to developing its infrastructure and harnessing its natural resources for the benefit of its people.
