Al-Qasimi: Jerusalem a Principled Cause for Islamic Platforms

Istanbul – Speaking from Istanbul, Sheikh Mohammed al-Ma’moun al-Qasimi al-Hassani, Dean of the Grand Mosque of Algiers, emphasized the unwavering commitment to the cause of Jerusalem. His remarks came during the 3rd International Conference of the ‘Trustees of Al-Aqsa for Preachers and Sharia Graduates,’ held on December 13th and 14th, 2025.

The conference, themed ‘From the Platforms of the Nation to Al-Aqsa Mosque… A Covenant and a Bond,’ aimed to reaffirm the Palestinian cause as a central focus of Islamic discourse. It sought to connect the message of scholars and preachers with the responsibility of defending Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, viewed as a symbol of unity and core issues for the Islamic world.

Sheikh al-Qasimi stressed that Algerian scientific and religious institutions, particularly the Grand Mosque of Algiers, consider supporting the Palestinian cause a fundamental principle, unaffected by circumstances or calculations. He affirmed that Jerusalem is integral to Algeria’s scholarly and advocacy efforts, consistent with its historical principles and stances on issues of importance to the Islamic community.

The Dean highlighted Algeria’s historical experience in resisting colonialism, emphasizing that the country places the issue of Jerusalem at the heart of its diplomatic approach. He reiterated that the Palestinian cause is not merely a political file subject to negotiation or compromise, but a matter of right, justice, and dignity.

Sheikh al-Qasimi cautioned against ongoing attempts to erase identity and distort historical memory. He asserted that Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque serve as a true measure of the Islamic world’s sincerity and collective consciousness. He called for unified scholarly and advocacy efforts to intensify joint action to maintain the centrality of the Palestinian cause.
