Doha, Qatar – Ms. Salima Mesrati, head of Algeria’s High Authority for Transparency, Prevention, and the Fight Against Corruption, is participating in the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The conference is being held in Doha, Qatar, from December 15th to 19th.
Ms. Mesrati’s participation underscores Algeria’s commitment to international efforts aimed at combating corruption and promoting transparency and good governance. The conference serves as a crucial platform for member states to share best practices, discuss challenges, and coordinate strategies in the global fight against corruption.
The UN Convention against Corruption is the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument. It covers a wide range of corruption-related issues, including prevention, criminalization, international cooperation, and asset recovery. The Conference of the States Parties is the main body responsible for reviewing the implementation of the Convention and promoting its effective application.
Algeria has been actively working to strengthen its national anti-corruption framework in recent years, implementing various reforms and initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and integrity in both the public and private sectors. Ms. Mesrati’s presence at the Doha conference provides an opportunity to showcase Algeria’s progress in this area and to learn from the experiences of other countries.
