Algiers, Algeria – A yellow-level weather alert has been issued across several Algerian provinces due to anticipated severe weather conditions. The alert, effective today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, and continuing through tomorrow, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, warns of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential snowfall in elevated regions.
Several wilayas are expected to experience significant rainfall today, including Aïn Defla, Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Laghouat, Saïda, Sidi Bel Abbès, El Bayadh, Naâma, Béni Abbès, and Timimoun. In addition to these regions, widespread thunderstorm activity is forecast for Béchar, Tipaza, Chlef, Mostaganem, Oran, Aïn Témouchent, Tlemcen, Relizane, Mascara, Médéa, Djelfa, Khenchela, Tébessa, and Ouargla.
Snowfall is predicted in the highlands of Tiaret, Saïda, El Bayadh, Laghouat, and Naâma.
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the affected area is expected to expand. Rainfall is anticipated along the coast, in the west, across the High Plateaus, and in southern regions, including Oran, Aïn Témouchent, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbès, Saïda, Mascara, Relizane, Tiaret, El Bayadh, Naâma, Béchar, Laghouat, Djelfa, M’Sila, Ghardaïa, El Menia, Timimoun, Ouled Djellal, El M’Ghair, Touggourt, Ouargla, and Aïn Salah. Thunderstorm activity is also expected to persist in these areas, as well as in Béni Abbès, Biskra, and El Oued.
Snowfall remains a possibility in the highlands of Tiaret, Laghouat, El Bayadh, Naâma, and Tlemcen.
