Algiers, December 16, 2025 – Several regions of Algeria are bracing for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, according to a special weather bulletin issued by the National Meteorological Office today. The advisory indicates that the inclement weather is expected to persist from this evening, Tuesday, through Thursday morning.
The bulletin specifically warns of significant rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, impacting a number of wilayas (provinces). The eastern parts of Béchar, Béni Abbès, and the northern areas of Timimoun are expected to receive between 20 and 30 millimeters of rainfall. This period of intense weather is predicted to last from this evening until 3:00 PM tomorrow, Wednesday.
A separate weather advisory forecasts even heavier rainfall for El Bayadh, Laghouat, and Tiaret. These regions could see rainfall amounts ranging from 30 to 70 millimeters locally. The anticipated timeframe for this more intense period of precipitation extends from this evening, Tuesday, through Thursday evening.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions, including securing loose objects, avoiding travel during periods of heavy rain, and staying informed about the latest weather updates.
