Gaza: Dozens Recovered from Rubble as Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

Gaza City – Rescue workers in Gaza have recovered the bodies of 30 Palestinians from the ruins of a home destroyed during the recent conflict. The Gaza Civil Defense announced the grim discovery, stating the house was struck during what they described as an ongoing war.

The recovery comes as Naser Medical Complex reported the death of another Palestinian, allegedly shot by Israeli forces in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. The Israeli military later issued a statement claiming they had killed a Palestinian who crossed a designated boundary line south of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, medical sources reported that a Palestinian was injured by gunfire in Jabalia, northern Gaza. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

These incidents occur against the backdrop of severe weather conditions, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported the death of a two-week-old infant, Mohammed Khalil Abu al-Khair, due to severe hypothermia. The infant had been admitted to the hospital and placed in intensive care prior to his death.

Additionally, the Gaza Civil Defense reported the death of one Palestinian and injuries to others following the collapse of a house on Al-Shifa Street in western Gaza City. The Government Media Office in Gaza stated that at least 15 Palestinians, including seven children, have died due to the collapse of at least 14 homes as a result of the harsh weather conditions.

Heavy rains have flooded tents, shelters, and temporary housing across Gaza, where much of the infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed. Residents have resorted to using vehicles and even donkey-drawn carts to navigate the flooded streets.

The Government Media Office reports that the Gaza Strip urgently requires increased aid to address the growing humanitarian crisis.
