Mostaganem, Algeria – The 12th edition of the National Cultural Festival of Melhoun Poetry commenced Wednesday evening in the city of Mostaganem. This year’s festival is dedicated to the memory of Sheikh Sidi Lakhdar Ben Khlouf, a prominent figure from the 16th century known for his contributions to Melhoun poetry.
The festival aims to celebrate and preserve the rich tradition of Melhoun, a unique form of Algerian vernacular poetry characterized by its distinct musicality and storytelling.
