National team player Himad Abdelli has expressed his delight after receiving a call-up from national coach Vladimir Petkovic to participate in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The invitation comes after an injury sidelined Houssem Aouar.
Speaking to Le Lien while en route to Algeria from France, Abdelli stated, “I am very happy with the invitation I received.” He emphasized the team’s commitment to performing well in the tournament, acknowledging past shortcomings. “Now we must do everything we can to present an honorable tournament, as we all know that we were not up to par in the last two participations,” he added.
Abdelli pledged to give his best in AFCON 2025 to bring joy to Algerian fans. He conveyed confidence in the team’s potential, asserting that the national team is strong and capable of going far in the continental competition.
“We have good players in the team, and any player the national coach relies on in midfield, I have no doubt that he will be up to the task,” Abdelli stated.
