Attaf and Zimbabwean Counterpart Hold Talks in Cairo

Cairo, Egypt – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral discussions with Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amon Murwira, this evening in Cairo. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of Minister Attaf’s official visit to the Egyptian capital.

The discussions provided an opportunity to assess the progress made in implementing the outcomes of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s state visit to Algeria in July. During that visit, President Mnangagwa held high-level talks with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Both ministers explored avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation across various priority sectors. The goal is to reflect the shared political will to build a balanced and sustainable African partnership. Discussions focused on tangible steps to strengthen economic ties and foster collaboration on key development projects.

Regionally and internationally, the ministers exchanged views on several issues of mutual concern. They affirmed the alignment of Algeria and Zimbabwe’s positions in supporting just causes, particularly the Palestinian cause and the issue of Western Sahara. Both nations remain committed to the principles of international law and the right of peoples to self-determination.

This meeting takes place within the context of Algeria’s participation in the second session of the African-Russian Partnership Forum at the ministerial level in Cairo. This participation underscores Algeria’s commitment to expanding dialogue and consultation, strengthening South-South coordination, and solidifying collective approaches to address regional and international challenges. All of this is in service of stability and development on the African continent.
