Algiers, December 19, 2025 – The National Meteorology Office has issued a weather alert, forecasting thunderstorms across twenty provinces in Algeria. The alert, categorized as Level One (Yellow), indicates a potential for disruptive weather conditions.
The provinces most likely to be affected by the anticipated thunderstorms include several in the eastern and central regions of the country. Specifically, the alert covers Souk Ahras, Guelma, Constantine, Mila, Setif, and Bordj Bou Arreridj. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
Furthermore, the meteorological office warns of similar weather patterns extending to other provinces. The advisory encompasses Tebessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Khenchela, Msila, and Djelfa. These regions can expect increased cloud cover and the possibility of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The southern regions are also under the weather advisory. Provinces including Biskra, Ouled Djellal, Laghouat, El Oued, Touggourt, Ghardaia, Ouargla, and Illizi should prepare for potential thunderstorms. While rainfall in these areas is often less frequent, the risk of flash flooding remains a concern due to the arid landscape.
Authorities are urging citizens in the affected provinces to stay informed about weather updates and to exercise caution during periods of heavy rainfall and lightning. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary travel and to secure loose objects that could be displaced by strong winds. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
