Algeria’s Desert Foxes Begin AFCON Prep in Rabat

The Algerian national football team, Les Fennecs, commenced their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Rabat, Morocco, this Saturday. The squad held their first training session as they gear up for their opening match against Sudan.

Following their arrival in Rabat on Friday evening, the technical staff scheduled a training session for Saturday evening. The session, which began at 5 PM local time, marked the start of on-field work after the team’s travel and recovery period.

Head coach Vladimir Petkovic is placing significant emphasis on meticulous preparation ahead of the crucial match against Sudan next Wednesday. The opening game is considered pivotal in setting the tone for Algeria’s campaign in the tournament.

In the days leading up to the match, Petkovic will focus on tactical drills and implementing the game plan after analyzing Sudan’s strengths and weaknesses. Video analysis sessions are planned to ensure the players are mentally and tactically prepared.

The Algerian team arrived in Rabat via a direct flight, landing at approximately 6 PM. The team was transported to their accommodation at the Marriott Hotel. The players are focused on recovery and regaining fitness before entering an intense training period leading up to their first match.
