Ghardaia, Algeria – Tragedy struck in Ghardaia as a gas leak resulted in the deaths of two women. The incident occurred earlier today, prompting a rapid response from civil defense services.
According to a statement released by the Civil Protection services, they were alerted at 7:56 AM to a situation involving two individuals suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. The incident took place in the El Hadj Messaoud area, within the municipality and district of Ghardaia.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders discovered two women, aged 58 and 92, who had succumbed to the effects of carbon monoxide emitted from a water heater. Sadly, despite efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the morgue at the local hospital. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the gas leak to determine the cause and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
