A new scandal is threatening to destabilize the reign of King Mohammed VI of Morocco. Emerging documents and testimonies allege that the King welcomed Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender and central figure in a child trafficking ring, to his royal wedding in 2002. The presence of Epstein, along with his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, raises serious questions about the King’s awareness of their activities and motivations.
Suspicious Royal Approval
Reports indicate that former U.S. President Bill Clinton requested the Moroccan palace to include Epstein and Maxwell on the guest list, despite their lack of any official connection to the event. The palace’s swift and seemingly unquestioning approval of this request has fueled intense speculation. Why was there no resistance or inquiry into the identities of these ‘additional’ guests? The most troubling answer suggests that King Mohammed VI was fully aware of Epstein’s identity, and his lifestyle did not present an obstacle to the invitation.
A Web of Connections and Shared Tastes?
Epstein was not an unknown figure within elite global circles. He was notorious for lavish parties, connections to the wealthy and powerful, and a debauched lifestyle. Even if the full extent of his crimes wasn’t yet public knowledge in 2002, his reputation within certain circles was no secret. The quick acceptance of Epstein at such a high-profile event points to two possibilities: either King Mohammed VI was aware of Epstein’s nature and found no reason to object to his presence, or he belonged to the same circle of corrupt elites who surrounded Epstein and benefited from his ‘services’.
Security Services Serving the King, Not the Nation?
It is improbable that Moroccan security services, known for their extensive reach and intelligence capabilities, were unaware of Epstein’s background. These are the same services that monitor ordinary citizens, create files on dissidents, and engage in widespread surveillance. The question then arises: how could they have failed to flag Epstein as a potential security risk, or were they deliberately instructed to ignore his presence due to his connections to the King?
This scandal has the potential to severely damage the credibility of the Moroccan monarchy and raise uncomfortable questions about the King’s judgment and associations.
