Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi has cautioned Yemeni ministers and executive officials against exploiting their positions to issue statements and declarations containing political stances that fall outside their mandates and are inconsistent with the constitution and the transitional phase’s terms of reference.
According to a source in the Presidential Office, al-Alimi emphasized the need to adhere to the Presidential Leadership Council’s decisions, the government program, and the transitional phase’s terms of reference, primarily the declaration of the transfer of power and the Riyadh Agreement. The source was quoted by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).
The source added that al-Alimi instructed the government and relevant authorities to take legal and administrative measures against any violations that undermine the unity of decision-making or attempt to impose policies outside constitutional frameworks, to protect the state’s legal status, the unity of its institutions, and the interests of citizens.
The Presidential Leadership Council holds the exclusive authority to define high-level political positions, the source clarified, adding that exploiting one’s official position to achieve political gains constitutes a serious violation of the constitution and the law and warrants accountability and punishment.
Al-Alimi called on the partners in the transitional council to prioritize wisdom and dialogue, and to spare the country, the people, and regional and international security from unprecedented risks. He urged them not to squander the gains achieved with the support of the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy, including the gains of the just southern cause.
He also appealed to all political components and the people to rally around the national state project and mobilize efforts for the battle to restore state institutions, overthrow the Houthi group’s coup, and end the humanitarian suffering.
