Industry Sector Establishes Committee to Combat Corruption

Algiers – The Ministry of Industry has inaugurated a sector-specific leadership committee tasked with implementing the National Strategy for Transparency and Anti-Corruption. The announcement was made Sunday by the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, according to a statement released by the ministry.

The newly formed committee will oversee the implementation of measures designed to enhance transparency and prevent corruption within the industrial sector. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to promote good governance and combat illicit practices across all sectors of the economy.

“The establishment of this committee underscores our commitment to fostering a business environment characterized by integrity and accountability,” stated Minister Bachir during the inauguration ceremony. “We believe that transparency is essential for attracting investment, promoting sustainable growth, and ensuring fair competition.”

The committee’s mandate includes developing and implementing specific action plans, monitoring progress, and reporting regularly to the Ministry of Industry. It will also collaborate with other government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to combating corruption.

The National Strategy for Transparency and Anti-Corruption, adopted earlier this year, aims to strengthen legal frameworks, enhance institutional capacity, and promote a culture of integrity throughout Algerian society. The establishment of sector-specific committees, such as the one inaugurated by the Ministry of Industry, is a key component of this strategy.

The Ministry of Industry has pledged its full support to the newly formed committee and has called on all stakeholders in the industrial sector to cooperate fully with its efforts. The ministry believes that by working together, it can create a more transparent and accountable business environment that benefits all Algerians.
