Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly planning to discuss Iran’s rebuilding of its missile capabilities and the possibility of a strike against Tehran during his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump.
According to sources, the discussions will center around what Israeli officials perceive as a growing threat emanating from Tehran. This comes after Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir expressed concerns to the US Central Command during a meeting in Tel Aviv. Zamir reportedly highlighted Israel’s unease regarding Iran’s recent missile maneuvers, suggesting they could be a smokescreen for a surprise attack. He stressed the importance of close coordination with Washington on defensive preparations.
The main concern, according to sources, is the potential for a miscalculation by either side that could lead to a war between Israel and Iran. However, it was noted that US intelligence currently possesses no indication of an imminent Iranian attack.
Israel is expected to present Trump with a comprehensive intelligence dossier during their meeting in Florida, aiming to persuade him to take practical steps against Iran, including the option of a renewed military strike. The dossier will reportedly focus on the alleged revival of Iran’s nuclear program, the development of ballistic missiles, the activities of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the support for what Israel describes as Iranian-backed terrorism in the region.
Israel believes that regime change in Iran is the ultimate solution to ending conflicts in the region. Tel Aviv is reportedly considering military and economic options, alongside efforts to destabilize the government in Tehran.
