Gaza City – Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has issued a stark warning regarding new Israeli measures that threaten humanitarian operations and healthcare access in the Gaza Strip. The organization stated on Monday that these actions, concerning the registration of international organizations operating in Gaza and the West Bank, could severely impede the delivery of vital aid to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.
MSF’s statement emphasizes that the newly implemented regulations could lead to the revocation of organizational registrations starting in January 2026. This would drastically hinder the ability of independent organizations to provide essential services amidst the near-total collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system.
Pascal Quaissear, MSF’s Emergency Coordinator in Gaza, stated that MSF teams provided approximately 800,000 medical consultations and treated over 100,000 trauma cases throughout 2025. She stressed that the current humanitarian response cannot withstand “further dismantling.”
Reports indicate that the Israeli measures compel organizations to provide extensive details about their Palestinian and foreign staff, including family information. This authority to register organizations has reportedly been transferred to the “Diaspora Ministry,” headed by Amichai Chikli. The ministry now possesses broad powers to reject applications based on political criteria, including denying Israel’s existence as a “Jewish and democratic” state and supporting the prosecution of Israeli citizens in international courts for alleged war crimes.
According to reports, the ministry has already rejected 14 out of 100 applications. Applications from major organizations such as Oxfam, Save the Children, and the Norwegian Refugee Council have reportedly been pending for months.
Despite a ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10th, Israel continues to impose strict restrictions on the entry of relief and medical supplies into Gaza. Statistics indicate that ongoing Israeli violations of the agreement have resulted in the deaths of 401 Palestinians and injuries to over 1,100 since the truce began.
