M’Sila Family Poisoned by Carbon Monoxide Leak

M’Sila, Algeria – A family of six suffered carbon monoxide poisoning early this morning due to a gas leak in their home in the wilaya of M’Sila. The incident occurred in the An-Nasr neighborhood of Bou Saada.

According to local authorities, the source of the leak was a traditional cooking stove, often referred to as a ‘tabouna’. The victims, ranging in age from 3 to 47 years old, were found unconscious inside their residence.

Civil Defense units responded to the emergency call at approximately 6:05 AM. Paramedics provided immediate medical assistance to the affected family at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital for further treatment and observation. Their current condition is unknown.

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be deadly. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining proper ventilation and ensuring that all gas appliances are in good working order, especially during the colder months when homes are often sealed tightly. Residents are urged to install carbon monoxide detectors to alert them to the presence of the dangerous gas.
