Algiers, December 25, 2025 – The Ministry of Health has announced an extension to the second phase of the national polio vaccination campaign. Originally scheduled to conclude on December 27th, the campaign will now continue until December 30th, 2025, across the entire country.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, this decision was made to facilitate easier access to vaccination services for parents and guardians. The extension aims to ensure that all eligible children benefit from this crucial preventative measure.
“The Ministry of Health is committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of our children,” the statement emphasized. “By extending the vaccination campaign, we are providing additional opportunities for families to protect their children from the debilitating effects of polio.”
The Ministry reiterated that vaccination remains the most effective method of preventing polio and maintaining the progress made in public health. They strongly encourage all parents and guardians who have not yet vaccinated their children to take advantage of this extended opportunity.
Polio, a highly infectious viral disease that primarily affects young children, can lead to irreversible paralysis. Widespread vaccination efforts have been instrumental in significantly reducing the global incidence of polio, and continued vigilance is crucial to eradicating the disease completely.
The Ministry urges all citizens to cooperate with healthcare professionals and participate actively in the vaccination campaign to ensure a polio-free future for Algeria.
