Algiers, December 25, 2025 – Oubaid Aboubaker has announced his resignation as Chairman of the Board of Directors of USM Alger, effective immediately. The announcement marks the end of Aboubaker’s tenure at the helm of the capital club.
In an official statement released earlier today, Aboubaker cited unfavorable conditions that hindered his ability to effectively and responsibly execute his duties. He stated that despite his recommendations and proposals aimed at ensuring the club’s long-term sustainability and protecting its interests, the circumstances proved too challenging to overcome.
“The conditions are no longer conducive to carrying out my duties in a calm, responsible, and effective manner, despite the recommendations and proposals I have made to ensure the club’s sustainability and protect its interests,” Aboubaker stated in his official address.
The outgoing chairman emphasized his commitment to principles of responsibility and ethics, asserting that his decision to resign was rooted in upholding these values and safeguarding the image of the club. He added that he remains committed to supporting a smooth transition period to ensure the continuity of the club’s operations.
Aboubaker further emphasized that SSPA USMA deserves exemplary management that aligns with modern standards and meets the expectations of shareholders, fans, and the general public. DZWatch understands that the resignation comes after a period of internal discussions regarding the future direction of the club.
The resignation leaves a vacuum at the top of USM Alger’s leadership, and the club is expected to announce its plans for a successor in the coming days. The news will undoubtedly be met with mixed reactions from supporters, who will be eager to see how the club navigates this period of transition.
