Algiers, December 25, 2025 – Algiers Metro Company (EMA) has announced a temporary service disruption on a section of its network to facilitate essential maintenance work. The disruption will affect the line connecting El-Maa’doumine and Hai El Badr stations.
According to an official statement released by EMA, the maintenance is part of a routine schedule to ensure the safety and efficiency of the metro system. The work will primarily focus on track maintenance and will be conducted outside of regular operating hours to minimize inconvenience to commuters.
The service interruption will commence on Friday night and is expected to last until 7:00 AM. During this period, metro services between El-Maa’doumine and Hai El Badr stations will be suspended.
To mitigate the impact of the disruption, EMA has coordinated with the Algiers public transport authority, ETUSA, to provide alternative transportation. Shuttle buses will be deployed between the affected stations, commencing at 5:00 AM. Passengers are advised to factor in additional travel time when planning their journeys.
“We understand that this temporary disruption may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate the public’s understanding,” the EMA statement read. “These maintenance works are crucial for the long-term reliability and safety of the Algiers Metro system.”
EMA encourages passengers to stay updated on the situation through its official website and social media channels. Commuters are also advised to allow for extra travel time and to utilize the provided ETUSA shuttle bus service during the disruption.
The Algiers Metro is a vital transportation artery for the capital city, and regular maintenance is essential to ensure its continued operation and the safety of its passengers.
