Algeria’s Minister of Culture and Arts, Soureya Moulouji, affirmed on Wednesday that the basic law for artists is one of the most significant achievements in the country, expressing profound gratitude to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for his exceptional care for the artist community.

In her speech at a press conference dedicated to the artist law, Moulouji stated: “The enactment of the basic law for artists is an appreciation of the artist’s profession and an enhancement of their social role, in line with President Tebboune’s 46th commitment.”

The Culture Minister added, “The law guarantees obtaining an artist card, financial remuneration, and social protection, allowing artists to benefit from social security and the protection of their creations through the artistic contract.”

Moulouji continued, “This law consists of 34 articles across four chapters, focusing on defining who qualifies as an artist and outlining the rights and obligations of artists.”

According to Moulouji, those holding an artist card without formal artistic education will benefit from artistic educational courses. Artist Law Algeria

The speaker confirmed that the Ministry of Culture and Arts has initiated the establishment of a medical center for artists and will soon begin its construction.

She concluded, “We will release a mechanism to ensure the rights of artists who are forced to stop their artistic work, in partnership with the Ministries of Culture, Labor, Employment, and Finance.”
