Extreme Cold Grips Several Algerian Provinces

Algiers, December 27, 2025 – Several provinces across Algeria are experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures and severe cold weather conditions, according to the National Meteorological Office.

A weather alert issued earlier today highlights a significant decrease in temperatures affecting a number of regions, particularly in the eastern and southern parts of the country. The provinces most impacted by this cold snap include Tébessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Sétif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Djelfa, Laghouat, El Bayadh, and Naâma.

Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme cold. This includes wearing warm clothing, staying indoors whenever possible, and ensuring adequate heating in homes. Farmers are also urged to take measures to protect livestock and crops from potential frost damage.

The meteorological office continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary. While the cold weather is expected to persist for the next few days, forecasters anticipate a gradual warming trend towards the end of the week.

DZWatch will continue to provide updates on this developing weather situation.
