Algeria’s Handball Team Gears Up for AFCON 2026 with Friendly Matches

Algiers – The Algerian national handball team is set to engage in a series of five friendly matches as part of their intensive preparation for the upcoming 2026 Africa Men’s Handball Championship (AFCON). The training camp, scheduled to run from December 27th to January 14th, will take place in both the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

According to the Algerian Handball Federation, these friendly encounters are designed to fine-tune the team’s strategies and build cohesion ahead of the continental tournament. The AFCON 2026 is slated to be held in Rwanda from January 21st to 31st, 2026.

“These preparatory matches are crucial for our team’s readiness,” stated a spokesperson for the Algerian Handball Federation. “They provide a valuable opportunity to assess our players’ form, experiment with different tactics, and identify areas that require further improvement before the championship.”

The Algerian team aims to make a strong showing at the AFCON 2026, competing against the continent’s top handball nations for the coveted title. The federation expressed confidence in the team’s potential and determination to achieve success on the Rwandan stage.

The names of the teams Algeria will face during the friendlies have not yet been released, but the federation is expected to announce the full schedule in the coming days.
