Tizi Ouzou: Vehicle Theft Ring Dismantled by Police

Tizi Ouzou, Algeria – A criminal network specializing in vehicle theft has been dismantled in Tizi Ouzou, according to local law enforcement officials. The operation, conducted by the Vehicle Theft Unit of the Wilaya Judicial Police, in coordination with security services in the Ouadhias district, concluded last week.

The coordinated effort led to the apprehension of nine individuals, whose ages range from 21 to 59 years. Authorities have stated that the suspects are believed to be part of a larger network with operations spanning multiple wilayas (provinces).

During the operation, law enforcement seized a variety of items connected to the criminal activity. These included tools and equipment used in the commission of the thefts, two vehicles allegedly used for the transportation of the network members, and several mobile phones. A sum of money, believed to be proceeds from the illicit activities, was also recovered.

“This operation demonstrates our commitment to combating organized crime and ensuring the safety and security of our citizens,” stated a spokesperson for the Tizi Ouzou police. “We will continue to work diligently to bring criminals to justice and disrupt their operations.”

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the full extent of the network’s activities and identify any additional accomplices. The arrested individuals are expected to face charges related to vehicle theft, conspiracy, and other related offenses.

The successful dismantling of this vehicle theft ring represents a significant victory for law enforcement in Tizi Ouzou and underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in tackling criminal enterprises. DZWatch will continue to provide updates on this developing story.
