A weather alert indicates the likelihood of locally heavy thunderstorms affecting coastal and central provinces. The affected areas include El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Algiers, and Tipaza. Meanwhile, the high plateau and southwestern provinces are bracing for a severe cold wave, with very low temperatures expected. The provinces of Tebessa, Khenchela, Batna, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Djelfa, Laghouat, El Bayadh, and Naama will be particularly affected. The extreme cold will be most pronounced during the morning and evening hours.
