RIYADH – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed strong concerns regarding recent actions by the United Arab Emirates in Yemen, describing them as “dangerous” and demanding an immediate withdrawal of Emirati forces. In a statement released earlier today, the Saudi Foreign Ministry outlined its apprehension over what it perceives as a direct threat to the Kingdom’s national security and the stability of Yemen and the broader region.
The Saudi statement detailed allegations that the UAE has been exerting pressure on the Southern Transitional Council (STC), pushing them to conduct military operations along Saudi Arabia’s southern border, specifically in the Hadramaut and al-Mahra governorates. Riyadh asserts that these actions contravene the core principles of the coalition supporting the legitimate government in Yemen and undermine its stated objectives of restoring stability and security.
The Kingdom’s ultimatum includes a demand that the UAE comply with a request from the Yemeni government to withdraw its military forces from Yemeni territory within 24 hours. The statement also stressed the importance of ceasing all forms of military or financial support to any parties within Yemen outside the framework of the legitimate government.
The Saudi warning follows reports of unauthorized shipments of weapons and heavy military equipment from Fujairah to the port of Mukalla. The Saudi government considers these shipments a serious breach of established agreements and protocols.
“Our national security is a red line,” the Saudi statement declared, affirming its commitment to taking all necessary measures to counter any threat to its stability and sovereignty. The Kingdom reiterated its unwavering commitment to the security, unity, and stability of Yemen, expressing its full support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and its legitimate government. The statement emphasized that addressing the Southern issue, described as just with historical and social dimensions, can only be achieved through inclusive political dialogue with the participation of all Yemeni factions.
