Trade Minister Urges Market Vigilance Ahead of Ramadan 2026

In anticipation of Ramadan 2026, the Minister of Internal Trade and Market Regulation, Amel Abdel Latif, chaired a coordination meeting yesterday focusing on market preparedness and price stability. The meeting brought together regional trade directors from the Algiers and Blida regions, along with provincial and delegated trade directors from Algiers, Tipaza, Boumerdes, Blida, Medea, Djelfa, Ain Defla, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Ain Oussera, and M’Sila.

According to a statement released by the ministry, the meeting centered on evaluating the current state of the national market, assessing the availability of essential consumer goods, and monitoring preparations for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The primary objective is to ensure a consistent supply of goods and stable prices throughout the period.

During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the critical need to establish and maintain local markets across the country. These markets are considered a vital mechanism for bringing goods closer to citizens and guaranteeing the availability of essential products at reasonable prices, particularly during Ramadan. She stressed the importance of strengthened field coordination between relevant ministerial sectors and the continuation of proactive measures.

Furthermore, the Minister underscored the necessity of intensified monitoring and control operations to safeguard citizens’ purchasing power. She called for constant vigilance and swift intervention to address any potential market imbalances and ensure the smooth functioning of markets. The focus remains on maintaining a stable and accessible market environment for all citizens in the lead-up to and throughout Ramadan 2026.
