Unlocking Economic Potential for Algeria through Emerging Companies

In a significant development, Algerian startups are making strides by exporting digital services to countries across the region and Africa, generating millions of dollars in revenue. Yassin Walid, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Small Enterprises, disclosed this during a recent field visit, emphasizing the sector’s capacity to contribute significantly to the national economy.

Walid, while visiting alongside the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Boudari, highlighted the burgeoning opportunities in this “youthful” sector. He underscored its potential to secure substantial foreign currency earnings for the country.

The key focus lies in establishing Algerian startups that export diverse services abroad, aligning with the incentives provided by the authorities to boost the sector. Minister Walid expressed optimism about the rapid growth of startups offering digital services to citizens, citing a fivefold increase in electronic payment transactions over the past 12 months.
