President Abdelmadjid Tebboune addressed the nation today before a joint session of Parliament, outlining significant progress across various sectors and reaffirming the government’s commitment to continued development and reform.
The President commended the Parliament’s active role in exercising its legislative powers, particularly in initiating laws related to nationality and the criminalization of colonialism. He emphasized the government’s willingness to engage in dialogue with political parties to address their concerns.
Economic Progress Highlighted: President Tebboune underscored the positive trajectory of the Algerian economy, dismissing claims of isolation and misguided policies. He cited a decrease in the inflation rate and a surge in foreign investment, with 309 foreign-backed investment projects underway. He attributed the nation’s economic health to the collective efforts of its workforce and leadership.
“Those who deny Algeria’s achievements are ungrateful and envious,” the President stated firmly.
Focus on National Production and Innovation: The President highlighted the revitalization of national production, reversing a previous decline in the industrial sector. He noted the railway sector’s advancements as evidence of Algerian ingenuity. Furthermore, he emphasized the significant progress in the pharmaceutical industry, achieving over 80% self-sufficiency in the local market. The burgeoning startup ecosystem, with 13,000 enterprises, was also lauded, particularly the young entrepreneurs making their mark internationally.
Strategic Projects Underway: President Tebboune confirmed the realization of the Gara Djebilet iron ore mine, now the third-largest in the world. He also addressed concerns surrounding the phosphate production project in Bled El Hedba, assuring its safe and efficient implementation, with plans to quintuple production capacity.
Agriculture and Technology: The President acknowledged the farmers’ success in establishing 15,000 agricultural enterprises, contributing positively to the national economy. He also noted the integration of technology into the agricultural sector.
The President concluded by acknowledging the significant successes achieved while hinting at further developments to be revealed.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable development programs and continuous reforms aimed at strengthening governance for and by the people. He stressed that the judiciary will rigorously combat corruption while protecting honest officials.
