President Tebboune Reaffirms Algeria’s Social Principles

Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed Algeria’s unwavering commitment to its social character, emphasizing it as a strategic choice rooted in the spirit of the November 1st Declaration of 1954. This declaration served as the historical and political foundation for the establishment of the Algerian state.

In an address to the nation before Parliament at the Palais des Nations, President Tebboune stressed, “Algeria is a social state, and it will not deviate from this path.” He highlighted that the November 1st Declaration would remain the fundamental and irreplaceable reference point, not to be superseded by any other vision.

President Tebboune invoked the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives for the nation, asserting that they took up arms not only to liberate the country but also to build a social and democratic state founded on Islamic principles and authentic national values.

The President reiterated his commitment to continuing the social support policy, affirming that assistance directed towards vulnerable groups is a “legitimate right that cannot be compromised.” He pointed to a series of decisions and measures taken by the state to strengthen social justice, particularly in the housing, education, health, and social protection sectors.

In closing, President Tebboune emphasized that Algeria is among the few countries that adopt a broad and comprehensive social policy. He stated, “There is no country in the world that possesses a social policy like Algeria’s,” alluding to the extent of support provided by the state to its citizens despite global economic challenges.

President Tebboune’s address underscores the nation’s dedication to its founding principles and its continued focus on social welfare.
