Algiers, December 30, 2025 – In a move aimed at ensuring the smooth completion of outstanding financial operations and streamlining accounting procedures, authorities have announced an exceptional extension to the deadlines for closing the 2025 fiscal year for public institutions and administrations.
Order No. 8945, issued today, December 30, 2025, stipulates the extension. Article 2 of the order specifically extends the deadline for finalizing public expenditure commitment projects until December 31st. This measure provides public administrations with an additional opportunity to complete their expenditure commitment processes before the end of the current year.
The new order also establishes firm deadlines for completing financial operations. December 31, 2025, remains the final date for concluding expenditure commitment projects. Furthermore, the deadline for closing payment orders and payment transfers for public expenditures has been set for January 10, 2026, adhering to the legally mandated 10-day grace period.
Crucially, Article 4 of the order clarifies that the budgets of local authorities (Wilayas and municipalities) are not subject to these specific deadlines. Their implementation will continue into the supplementary period as stipulated by current legislation, particularly concerning the issuance of payment orders and the disbursement of expenditures.
The order concludes by tasking authorizing officers, budget controllers, and public accountants with the strict implementation of these measures to ensure a seamless financial transition into the new 2026 fiscal year. The extension is expected to alleviate pressure on government entities and contribute to more accurate financial reporting.
