Algiers: Criminal Network Targeting Businesses Dismantled

Algiers, December 31, 2025 – A criminal network specializing in the theft of businesses has been dismantled by security services in Algiers. Operatives from the Property Crimes Unit of the Bab Ezzouar Judicial Police District 2 successfully apprehended a group of nine individuals with prior criminal records.

The arrests followed a series of complaints regarding burglaries targeting companies across several central provinces. The perpetrators reportedly stole significant sums of money and electronic equipment from the targeted businesses.

Investigations conducted by the police, under the supervision of the territorially competent Public Prosecutor, led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspects. During the operation, authorities recovered stolen goods including tools used in the burglaries, two plastic pistols, and prohibited bladed weapons.

In addition to the weapons, law enforcement seized seven television sets, four laptops, eleven mobile phones, a sum of 243 million centimes (Algerian currency) believed to be proceeds from the thefts, and five passenger vehicles. The seized assets are crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.

The suspects have been presented before the territorially competent Public Prosecutor for further legal proceedings. This successful operation underscores the commitment of Algiers security services to combating organized crime and protecting businesses from criminal activity. The authorities are continuing their investigations to determine if the network was involved in other similar incidents.
