Algiers – The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the establishment of a ‘one-stop shop’ within universities nationwide to support student and researcher projects. This initiative aims to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation within Algerian universities.
This centralized hub will serve as a single point of contact within each university, providing guidance and support to students with projects, both during their studies and after graduation. It will also assist research professors, university hospital research professors, and permanent researchers.
The ‘one-stop shop’ aims to empower these individuals to establish economic enterprises and streamline the administrative procedures associated with launching their projects. This initiative includes representatives from various ministries, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Market Regulation, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, and the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency.
The initiative is expected to cultivate a university environment conducive to innovation, bringing administration closer to those with ideas and projects. This move is anticipated to support the transition towards a knowledge-based economy and enhance the university’s contribution to national economic development. The Ministry hopes this streamlined approach will significantly improve the success rate of student and researcher-led initiatives.
