Algeria Strengthens Consumer Health Security with New Agreement

Algiers, December 31, 2025 – A significant agreement aimed at bolstering consumer health security was signed today between the Ministry of Internal Trade and Regulation of the National Market and the National Agency for Health Security. The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry headquarters, was overseen by the Minister of Internal Trade, Amel Abdelatif, and the head of the National Agency for Health Security, Kamal Senhadji.

According to a statement released by the Ministry, the core objective of this agreement is to enhance coordination and joint cooperation in the critical area of health security. This will be achieved through the exchange of crucial data and information pertaining to consumer health and safety. Furthermore, the agreement seeks to foster collaborative efforts, particularly concerning product safety and compliance with established standards.

A key focus of the agreement is the emphasis on health alerts as a vital mechanism for collecting data. This data will enable early warnings and rapid interventions, ultimately ensuring the health and safety of consumers across Algeria.

The agreement also establishes a dedicated oversight and monitoring committee. This committee will be responsible for evaluating and implementing the various provisions outlined in the agreement. It will also play a crucial role in studying proposals and projects of mutual interest, especially those related to consumer protection and product security.

This initiative underscores the Algerian government’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring the availability of safe and compliant products in the national market. The agreement is expected to significantly contribute to a more robust and responsive system for protecting consumers from potential health risks associated with various products.
