Civil Defense units across the nation responded to 3,002 incidents in the last 24 hours, averaging one intervention every 28 seconds. These interventions, spanning various provinces, primarily involved medical evacuations, traffic accidents, domestic incidents, fire suppression, and support for security forces.
According to official reports, 180 interventions were related to traffic accidents, resulting in one fatality and 205 injuries of varying severity. Victims received on-site care and were transported to local hospitals. The most severe incident occurred in Boumerdes, where one person died after a motorcycle collided with a truck on the Khemis El Khechna bypass towards Algiers.
Emergency teams provided first aid to six individuals suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning due to faulty heating and water heating systems. These incidents were reported in Naama (2), Algiers (3), and Setif (1). Tragically, three deaths resulted from gas poisoning in Djelfa (two men, ages 25 and 27) and Setif (an 18-year-old). The deceased were taken to local hospital morgues.
Firefighters extinguished three urban, industrial, and commercial fires in Bechar, Boumerdes, and Bejaia. In Bechar, two individuals sustained minor burns in a house fire caused by a butane gas leak. Fires at a plastic manufacturing workshop in Boumerdes and a jewelry store in Bejaia were brought under control. Fifteen people were evacuated as a precautionary measure, with no reported casualties.
In El Tarf, Civil Defense units responded to a gas explosion in a second-floor apartment kitchen during plumbing work. The explosion injured two people who fell from the second floor, and a third person suffered from shock. All injured were transported to local health facilities for treatment.
