President Tebboune Mourns Loss of Historian Mohamed Harbi

Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has conveyed his deepest condolences to the family of the late historian and former revolutionary, Mohamed Harbi, following news of his passing.

In a message of condolence issued earlier today, President Tebboune paid tribute to Harbi’s significant contributions to Algerian history and his role in the nation’s struggle for independence. The President acknowledged Harbi’s early engagement in the political movement against colonialism, followed by his active participation in the liberation revolution as both a combatant and a cadre within the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic.

President Tebboune further highlighted Harbi’s dedication to writing and research after independence, noting that he enriched the global library with numerous valuable works on the history of the national movement and the triumphant liberation revolution.

“With great sadness, I received the news of the passing of the Mujahid and intellectual historian, Mohamed Harbi. With his departure, Algeria has lost a remarkable man who engaged early in the political struggle against colonialism, then in the ranks of the liberation revolution as a Mujahid and a cadre in the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic, before devoting himself after independence to writing and research, enriching the global library with several valuable works on the history of the national movement and the victorious liberation revolution,” the President’s message stated.

President Tebboune extended his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and to the revolutionary family, expressing his hope that God Almighty would grant him his vast mercy, dwell him in his spacious gardens, and inspire his family with beautiful patience and solace. The message concluded with the traditional Islamic expression of mourning, “Indeed, we belong to God, and indeed, to Him we will return.”
