Venezuela Declares Emergency, Accuses US of ‘Military Aggression’

Caracas, Venezuela – The Venezuelan government has declared a state of emergency following a series of explosions that rocked the capital city of Caracas early Saturday morning. Witnesses reported hearing loud blasts and observing heavy military aircraft activity over the city.

According to reports, the explosions occurred in various areas of Caracas, causing widespread concern among residents. Videos circulating on social media showed plumes of smoke rising after the incidents.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister announced President Nicolas Maduro’s decision to declare a national emergency. In a statement, the government accused the United States of carrying out a “serious military aggression” against several regions of the country, including Caracas, Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira states.

The official statement emphasized that President Maduro has ordered the implementation of all national defense plans in response to the situation. He also called upon social and political forces to mobilize and defend the nation.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing the sounds of aircraft and loud noises, with smoke visible across the capital. Power outages were also reported in southern Caracas, near a major military base. Reports indicated intensive low-altitude flights by military aircraft, although the reasons for this activity remain unclear.

The situation unfolds amidst prior threats from the United States President to potentially conduct ground operations in Venezuela, aimed at pressuring President Maduro to step down. The declaration of emergency and the accusation against the US mark a significant escalation in tensions within the region.
